Jeffrey “Scott” Plyler, 65, of Winston-Salem, passed away February 9, 2021 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center after a brief illness with COVID-19. Scott was born in Statesville, NC on December 20, 1955 to the late Billie (Bill) Ruffin Plyler and the late Cynthia Sue Miller Plyler. He is survived by a sister, Beverly Plyler Williams, and two brothers, Phil Plyler (Peggy), and Paul Plyler. Scott earned a Master of Science with a focus in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1988, and worked for Southwestern Book Company. Most importantly, Scott was a follower of Jesus Christ and devout student of the Bible. He was a faithful attender of church, was a very good friend, and will be missed. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there by any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) Scott will be laid to rest during a private graveside ceremony at the family’s home church, Abilene Church of Christ, in Statesville, North Carolina, at a later date. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Winston-Salem, is serving the family of Mr. Plyler.
