WINSTON-SALEM - Jeffrey Neil Pendry, age 46, finished his two year battle with esophageal cancer at his home on October 28, 2009. The following was written and compiled by Jeff a few weeks ago⦠I am so very thankful to have had my best friend and wife of 24 years, Cathy Daniel Pendry, by my side throughout this journey, as well as our five beautiful children, Daniel, Meredith, David, Dalton, and Madelyn. I love you all dearly. You mean the world to me and I am so very proud to call you mine. I am truly saddened that you had to experience something like this so early in your young lives. I wish I could be there for the rest of your major milestones, as well as the every day little things, but please know that I will always be in your hearts wherever life may lead you. I had great parents, Sherrill (deceased) and Dorene Pendry. They believed in me and taught me so much. I love you mom and appreciate you being there for me through everything. I'll miss you big sis, Sharon (Bruce) Hodges, and your children, Matt, Paul & Tiffany. Love to you all. Thanks to my in-laws, Harold (deceased) & Catherine Daniel, for taking me into your family and allowing me to marry your daughter. My life wouldn't have been complete without her. I also hope that my in-laws, Wanda Daniel, Debbie Daniel & husband, John Ratliff (and his children, Jason, Melissa and Brandon) know they were always so much more to me than in-laws. Thanks for always being there for us and loving my children like they were your own. I've been very blessed with many good friends along the way, but Scotty Speas and Mike Cockerham were more like brothers to me. Scotty has been such a very special part of our family since the very beginning and Mike has been by my side since childhood. They were always there for me. I love you both. Many thanks for the devoted care I received from Dr. Grote and his staff at Forsyth Regional Cancer Center, the 9th floor oncology staff at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, and the wonderful staff at Hospice and Palliative Care (especially LuAnne). God bless you all for what you do. Thanks also to the caring souls that sent prayers, food and money to us along the way. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services Inc, 3175 Maplewood Ave, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103, or Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103. I've requested not to have a traditional visitation or memorial service, but my family will be receiving visitors at Pinebrook Country Club, 5475 Germanton Rd, Winston-Salem, NC, 27105 on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 2:00 - 5:00. For my love⦠Beautiful (Trina Harmon, Austin Cunningham) I'm looking for a way to feel you hold me, feel your heartbeat, just one more time, reaching back trying to touch the moment, each precious minute, that you were mine. How do you prepare when you love someone this way? To let them go a little more each day? Some days missing you is overwhelming, when it hits me you're not coming back, and in my darkest hours I have wondered, was it worth it for the time we had? My thoughts get kind of scattered but one thing I know is true, I was blessed the day that I found you. The stars we put in place, the dreams we didn't waste, the sorrows we embraced, the world belonged to you and me, the oceans that we crossed, the innocence we lost, the hurting at the end, I'd go there again, âcause it was beautiful, it was beautiful.
