Mr. Jeffrey Lee Bowen, 59, of Lexington passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 after a brief illness. Jeff was born to the late Mary and William Bowen. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Hardister and Judy Earnest; a brother, Eddie Bowen; and a granddaughter, Kaylee Jones. Jeff proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and earned many ribbons and recognitions in his years of service. In his spare time, Jeff was an accomplished sketch artist who sold many of his drawings over the years. Jeff was a kind and generous man who was famous for his ""bear hugs"" and never forgot to say ""I love you"". Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 35 years, Charlene Edwards Bowen; two daughters, Monica Trombley and husband Tom, and Amanda Jones and husband Michael; a sister, Elaine Blevins; and many nieces and nephews. Jeff was ""Pop Pop"" to three precious grandchildren, Aidan Williams, Riley Jones, and Brooke Jones. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington with military honors provided by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard District 11. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
