Jeannie Lea Atkins, 68, of Pilot Mountain went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at her home overlooking the mountain she so dearly loved. She was born in Pulaski, Virginia on July 22, 1954. Jeannie was a truly amazing woman who could do anything she set her mind on including being the general contractor and do most of the labor on her retirement home that she moved into in 2019 and until the very end, she loved mowing the 15 acres surrounding her home. Jeannie was a retired CPA and college instructor in Accounting. She was an active member of Pinedale Christian Church and went on several short-term mission trips around the world. She loved to travel especially to Colorado to visit her three children who have all relocated to Denver and their families she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Atkins, a brother Robert and a sister Diane. Jeannie is survived by her husband Mike, two daughters, Valerie (Jason) and Sarah (Josh), and one son Ben (Mariah). She is survived by five grandchildren Jordan, Abby (Justin), Belle (George), Addy and Ella. She is survived by two great-grandsons Grey and Bear with a third grandson on the way. She is also survived by her mother Violet, brother Larry, sister Renee and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to especially thank her best friend Pat who was by her side to the end. Jeannie did not want to have a funeral because she preached her own eulogy by the life that she lived. A celebration of life service for Jeannie may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Mountain Valley Hospice who took such wonderful care of Jeannie in her final days on earth.
