Palm Harbor, FL-Jean Frances Farrell Wade, 76, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away unexpectedly Monday, March 31, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Queens, NY to the late William and Frances Downey Farrell.
Jean was, Sister Jean Anthony of the Roman Catholic Dominican Order prior to meeting her husband and beginning a family. Jean loved the ocean and shopping, but mostly she loved being with her two grandsons. She was our wife, our mother, grandmother, our friend, a teacher and even a nun (although many didn't believe it when we told them). Whether you called her Mom, Jean, Gram, Jeannie, or Sister Jean Anthony we all knew her as a tough talking woman that loved to get her hair done in her bleached blond 70's beehive, shop till she dropped (or very frequently you did), drove her flashy black caddie always a bit too fast and loved the boat, the sun and the beach. She would search for the perfect gift for whoever she was buying for, made Christmas look like a toy store exploded in our living room, threw parties and served the best in 70's cuisine- mini hotdogs, onion dip and chips, hot & spicy meatballs, and spare ribs all washed down with a Kailua and milk! In the summer she would spend all morning preparing lunch and dinner- salami and cheese sandwiches for lunch and- banquet fried chicken, store bought potato salad, and coleslaw so when Dad got home we could spend the entire day at short beach sunning and playing and having the best time with family and friends. Her favorite thing to do of late, was dote on her grandchildren and she loved her ""pumpkins"" more than anything. She was loved and she will be missed but we have no doubt she is up in heaven with her mom, dad, brother, Aunt Teresa and Pop watching over us all and no doubt we will get some of her ""gifts"" if she can get them to us.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, William Farrell.
Surviving are her husband, Martin George Wade, Sr.; daughter, Kellie-Jean Davidson and husband, Sean; son, Martin George Wade, Jr. and wife, Gretchen; and two grandsons, Martin Garrison Wade and Ryan Andrew Wade.
Services will be held at a later date.
Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Wade family.
