KERNERSVILLE - Jean Marcelle Snider Parks, 87, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. Jean was born August 30, 1930 in Smyth County, VA to John Thomas and Dixie Comer Snider. She was a faithful member of Waughtown Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in all aspects of the church. Jean retired from the City of Winston-Salem Recreation Department as a Center Supervisor. She mastered the art of ceramics, sharing her handmade treasures with many and was still teaching the art to others! Jean loved to bake and was an avid Rook player.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two brothers, John Snider, Jr., and Darrell Snider; and one sister, Gloria Adamson.

Surviving are her daughter, Dona Martin (Terry); her son, Greg Parks (Sharon); five grandchildren, Clint Queen (Kristy), Erin Whitaker (Brian), Hannah Wyatt (James), Katie Matthews (Cody), and Brandi Stone (Jordan); six great grandchildren; and one sister, Hilda Weatherly.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Waughtown Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Brackett officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. The family would like to extend a very special thanks Pastors Eddie Brackett (Hilda), Christopher Burcham and David Rorie for their comfort during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waughtown Baptist Church, 1538 Waughtown St, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
