Mrs. Jean Pitts Moseley, 94, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Trinity Elms Health and Rehabilitation. Jean was born April 13, 1927, in Washington, DC to the late Cyril W Pitts and Mildred Tolson Pitts.
Jean was a 1945 graduate of Coolidge High School in Washington, DC. She married her loving and devoted husband Malvern on September 25, 1947 and they were married for 73 years.
Jean was a kind, thoughtful, and empathetic person, who always made visitors to her home feel welcomed and special. She had an infectious laugh that would light up a room. She loved to knit, sing, read, and enjoyed being in the kitchen, where she was known for her homemade apple pie and applesauce. During her life she sang in her church choirs, often singing solos and duets and enjoyed playing the piano. Jean was also a prize-winning grower of African Violets.
Jean worked for the Montgomery County Court System, beginning in 1960 as a clerk typist, and retired in 1986 as a supervisor.
In 1989, she and Malvern retired to Garrett County Maryland and lived there until 2016, when she and Malvern moved to Winston-Salem, NC to live with her son and his wife.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Malvern Dawson Moseley, Jr.; daughter, Karen Elaine Roberson; brother, Robert Brown and his wife Clara Brown. She is survived by her son, Glenn Moseley and his wife Libby; and five grandchildren: Kyle Roberson, Lacey Roberson, Matthew Moseley, Gregory Moseley and his wife Eleanor, and Sarah Moseley; and niece Diana Martin.
