Mrs. Jean Hauser Landers, 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully at Vienna Village on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, surrounded by her two daughters. Jean was born in Forsyth County on January 12, 1930, to the late Opie H. Hauser and Pearl Long Hauser. She was a graduate of Clemmons High School and studied at the American Institute of Banking for many years. Jean worked for Wachovia Bank for 11 years before leaving the workforce to raise her children. Jean was a longtime faithful member of Ardmore Baptist Church for over 60 years and an active member of Beta Sigma Phi business sorority for women for many years. After retirement Jean and her husband Ed spent a lot of time at their condo in Myrtle Beach. They loved to travel and enjoyed dancing. Jean and Ed were strong supporters of Wake Forest University football and basketball as well as heavily involved in the sports activities of their grandsons. Jean also enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of her flowers. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward “Ed” Landers, Jr.; grandson, Adam Cagle; and siblings, James Hauser, Ethel Hart, Mary Pitts, and Albert Hauser. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Landers Young and Ann Landers Lamm-Tinoco; grandsons, Jake Cagle (Brooke) and Adrian Tinoco; step-granddaughter, Lauren Young; great-grandsons, Mason, Cooper, Levi, and Cole Cagle; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12pm on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Paul Mullen and Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:45 until 11:45am prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Vienna Village for the compassionate and loving care they provided to Jean for the past four years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
