Mrs. Jean Blackburn Holcomb, 78, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at her home. She was born November 29, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late Thomas Daniel and Cleota Pullen Blackburn. She was a graduate of UNC-G and was an assistant to Chaplain Rev. Ed Christmon at Wake Forest University for 35 years. She was instrumental in the beginning of the love feast, where she wrapped each candle individually by hand. Mrs. Holcomb was also a charter member of the N.C. Basket Makers Association and a member of Knollwood Baptist Church. She was loved by many students, faculty, co-workers, friends and family and will be truly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.T. ""Pete"" Holcomb, Jr. and by a brother, Tommy Blackburn. Surviving are her children, Thomas B. Holcomb and wife, Loretta, Ann H. Jewell and Stephen C. Holcomb; four grandchildren, Janelle Blackmon, Peter T. Holcomb, Kathryn Jewell and John T. Jewell; and three great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Bob McGee officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
