HARDIN - GERMANTON Jean Perkins Hardin passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 30, 2012. She was 93 years young. Jean was born on July 28, 1919 to William (Bill) Franklin Perkins and Alice Toliver Perkins. She grew up in Ashe County, a place that remained dear to her heart. Mont Hardin, her husband of 64 years and Mildred Perkins Green her sister, preceded her in death. To know Jean Hardin was to love her. There was always a place at her table for family and friends. She remained young at heart, strong in spirit and independent. She was an active member of the Germanton Baptist Church and engaged in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a beautician, a homemaker and avid reader. Mont and Jean are survived by four daughters, Judie Jennings (Aubrey), Martha Sloan (Steve), Carol Boles (Larry), and Monty O'Brien, as well as ten grandchildren: Brandie Jones (Barry), Christie Jackson (Robert), Chad Jennings (Allison), Donna Sloan, Stephen Sloan, Jr. (Bonnie), Larry Boles, Jr. (Sandra), Bill Boles (Amy), Karl Stupka, Sam O'Brien, and Hannah O'Brien. Ten great-grandchildren also survive her, as well as many loved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall from 6-8 PM this evening, September 1st. The funeral will be at 2 PM on Sunday, September 2nd at Germanton Baptist Church in Germanton. Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Germanton Baptist Church Building Fund, 1120 Willow St., Germanton, NC 27109 or to the Stokes County Animal Shelter at 1999 Sizemore Rd., Germanton, NC 27109.
