Mrs. Jean Etheridge Duffer, 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, on November 24, 1930, to the late Clifton and Mildred Catherine Staten Etheridge. Jean was a very active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She was retired from Ardmore Baptist Church, where she was a preschool teacher. Jean was a devoted wife and loving mother, that will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Etheridge. Surviving is her loving husband of sixty-six years, Henry Gafford Duffer; five children: James Duffer of New Bern, NC, Michael Duffer and wife Christine, Catherine Winn, Amanda Duffer of Pinnacle, NC, and Brent Duffer; three grandchildren: Drake Duffer, Luke Duffer, and Kelsey Winn; a sister, Evelyn Aust of Clearwater, FL; and a loving niece and nephew.

A private graveside service will be held at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, officiated by Pastor Angel Christ. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, with social distancing and masks required. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
