KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Jean Hawks Casstevens, 84, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Bradford Village West. Jean was born on February 5, 1929 in Surry County to the late Goble and Edith Hill Hawks. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Arvil John Casstevens of the home; two daughters Doris (Ronald) Pinyan and Arlene (Michael) Alford; one son, Wayne (Elizabeth) Casstevens; seven grandchildren, Allen (Jaime) Casstevens, Eric Casstevens, Steven (Jennifer) Pinyan, Dana (Chris) Beeson, Ryan (Hannah) Pinyan, Blake (Ashley) Pinyan, and Nick (Amanda) Collins; nine great grandchildren, Hailey Casstevens, Midajah Hunter, Cassidy Pinyan, Summer Pittman, Kellie Pinyan, Emily Beeson, Courtney Beeson, Caleb Collins and Kyndal Collins; and five sisters, Jane Lawson of Westfield, Mary Leftwich of Mt. Airy, Silla (Carroll) Dockery of Mt. Airy, Anne (Harry) Jessup of Mt. Airy and Linda Gwynn of Cana, VA. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Doris Pinyan and Rev. Garland Glascoe officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at the funeral home.
