Jean McGimsey Brown

Mrs. Jean McGimsey Brown, 82, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Oak Forest Nursing Home. She was born December 28, 1925 in Buncombe County to the late Mr. Louie McGimsey and Mrs. Bessie McGimsey. Mrs. Brown attended Old Richmond Evangelical Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Travis A. Brown and one brother. Surviving are one son, Travis G. Brown and wife, Carolyn of Tobaccoville; two daughters, Debra Tucker and husband, Danny of Germanton and Brenda Orcutt and husband, Jim of Charleston, SC; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Thursday, October 2 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Bryant Madren officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 3 at Sycamore Baptist Church in Walnut Cove.
