Jayne Smith Jones

Mrs. Jayne Smith Jones, 76, passed away Friday, June 05, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1938 in Surry County to the late Opal Marshall Smith and James Burt Smith, Sr. Mrs. Jones retired from NCDMV with 50 years of service. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by one brother, James Burt Smith, Jr. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Sidney ""Donnie"" Jones; seven siblings: Buster Lee Smith (Levina), Betty Newberry (Levonne), Barbara Settle (Leon), Nancy Shumate (Clyde), Jackie W. Smith (Sandra), Bobby Dale Smith (Donnie), and Shirley Graley; a special caregiver, Brenda Carlton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Dr. Ron Baity officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 8 at the funeral home.
