Jarvis 'Jim' 'Goot' McKinley McGuire

Mr. Jarvis ""Jim"" ""Goot"" McKinley McGuire, Jr., 76, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born July 19, 1937 in Forsyth County to Jarvis McKinley McGuire, Sr. and Ola Margaret Butner McGuire. Mr. McGuire retired from Pace Airlines and was a member of the ""King Bees"" band. Music was his passion. He was always friendly and outgoing. He loved fishing at Carolina Beach, yard work, and his neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Brent McGuire; and brother, R. Dean McGuire. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Helen Moore McGuire; daughter, Sandra L. McGuire Harris; two grandsons, Devin McKinley Harris, Weston Gray Harris; sister, Toni K. McGuire; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Sonny) Woodbury, Brenda (Don) Brannock; special fishing buddy, Walter L. McDowell; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Dr. Brad Stamey officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
