Mr. Jarvis Monroe Hauser, 94, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at his home. He was born March 19, 1924 in Forsyth County. Jarvis was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After 37 years, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk. Jarvis was a lifelong member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees and was President and Secretary/ Treasurer of the Bona Vita Sunday School Class. He also was a member of the Jonestown Civic Club, the Lewisville Historical Society and the Model A Club. Jarvis was very active in the Boy Scout program at New Philadelphia Moravian Church, Bethesda Moravian Church and Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Jarvis Hauser and Olie Charles Hauser; brother, Jack Hauser and granddaughter, Allison Ellender. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Johnnie Saylor Hauser; three children, Lee Hauser (Mary Anne) of St. Augustine, FL, Jane Hauser Shore (Jack) of Winston-Salem and Ed Hauser of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Erin Whidden (Jason), Jessica Ellender, Errette Shore (Danielle), Lily, Jacob and Dylan Hauser and one great granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green and the Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. The family expresses their thanks to all the caregivers for their care of Jarvis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NPMC graveyard fund. (Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel)
