KERNERSVILLE – Janice Lee Thomas Coltrane, 74, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Kernersville Medical Center. Janice was born on July 17, 1947 in Macon County to William Carl and Ida Lee Moffitt Thomas. She retired from Henredon Furniture with 35 years of service and was a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. She could often be found on her front porch with her pets, birdwatching, with Cardinals being her favorite. Janice enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach. She was a collector of many things, with bears topping the list. She was an Elvis fan and loved to sing – especially in church. Janice was dedicated to her family and loved them immensely. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Carl Thomas.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Darrell Coltrane; a son, Jason Keith Coltrane; a brother, Wayne Thomas (Bonnie); a niece, Debbie Vivod (Eric); nephews, Kevin Thomas (Chirsty), Logan Thomas (Audrianna), Tim Koontz, and Aaron Freeman (Stephanie); her sister-in-law, Alice Thomas; her best friends, Kathy Castevens (David) and Rita Thomas; and lots of extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Trinity Cemetery with Pastor David Rorie officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
