Janet Wilkins

Janet Carol Hutchens Wilkins, 79, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Salem Terrace Assisted Living. Janet was born on May 7, 1938, in Hillsville Virginia to Clyde and Ocie Beasley Hutchens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Damon Hutchens and Gale Hutchens. Surviving are her loving husband, Donald E. Wilkins; two daughters, Donna Steinberg and Teresa Johnson; one son, Gene Wilkins; six grandchildren, Tori Baston, Josh Steinberg, Elizabeth Suttles, Marissa Johnson, Kelsey Wilkins, and Travis Wilkins; and five great-grandchildren, Journi, Lyla, Eleanor, Gavin, and Genevieve. Also surviving are three brothers, Leonard Hutchens, Roger Hutchens, and Larry Hutchens. Janet was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all. A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm on January 13, 2018, at Winston-Salem First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tim Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on January 12, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Salem Terrace Assisted Living for the love and care Ms. Janet received over the past ten months. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Winston-Salem First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 998 Hutton Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
