Janet Sue Myers

Our beloved mother Janet Williams Myers, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on November 24th at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on August 7th, 1941, in Maxton SC. She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Williams (Bunny), Maizelle Williams, Jack Williams (brother) and sister Carolyn Merritt (Mike). She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in-law and sister in-law.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Parklawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Mary Beth Beck-Henderson officiating.

She was a big animal lover and loved her cats; Princess, Bubba, and Sissy. She also had many friends and was well-loved by anyone that knew her kind heart. Her favorite thing to do was read, do crossword puzzles, and enjoy her coffee while reading the morning paper. She was an amazing cook and baker. She could make cake from a box that tasted homemade and made the best chocolate chip cookies that you ever put in your mouth.

She started her career at Eckerds Drug store, Dewey’s bakery and went on to work at Western Electric where she retired. She did not like staying home so she started working at Lowe’s Home Improvement where she worked for many more years. She then decided to stay home to take care of her granddaughter LeAnn.

She met her loving husband Jackie Jones Myers on a Monday and got married on that same Friday. They spent 51 years together when they were parted by death. She had two children: Jacqueline Flowers (Gene) and Steve Myers (Kristy) grandchildren: LeAnn Widdick (Tom), Brennan Flowers (Megan) Justin Altman, Caleb Altman, Steven Myers, and Jacob Myers and two great grandchildren Weston and Addilyn Widdick. She spent many hours playing with her grandchildren and loved cooking for them. She would have loved to play with her great grandchildren but unfortunately due to her illness she never got that chance. We will always tell them how wonderful she was and keep her spirit alive. Her sister in-law Patty Fesmire was like her sister, and they spent many wonderful times together. Her son in-law Jamie Myers (Patty) who she loved so much and was like a son to her.

We would like to thank the staff at Arbor Acres for the final year of her life. They truly treated her like family as we always thought of them as family as well. To the staff of Forsyth Medical Center Emergency Department and the Palliative Care Unit for their comfort in her final hours they were truly amazing, and we couldn’t have asked for better care. To her physician Katrina Romblad at Friedberg Family Medicine, you and the whole staff took such great care of her, and she loved to come see you and loved you all so much.

I do not know how we are going to live without her in our lives, but we will always know that she is with us, guiding us and sending us all her love.
