MCALLISTER Mrs. Janet Kay Scott McAllister, 65, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a long and courageous fight against breast cancer. She was born December 8, 1948 in Forsyth County to Luther S. and Mildred Baity Scott. Mrs. McAllister was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church where she was active in the Pioneers for Christ Sunday School class and Circle #6. She worked at Belk Department Store for many years as a bridal consultant before becoming a teacher’s assistant for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System which she loved. She enjoyed the beach and working in her flower garden in her spare time, but most importantly, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to all. She was preceded in death by her father, Luther “Luke” S. Scott. Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Norman C. McAllister; two daughters, Tammy D. McAllister of Lewisville, Teresa M. Hughes and husband Chris of Raleigh; one son, Jeffrey Scott McAllister, and wife Georgia of Lewisville; four grandchildren, Christina and Nicholas McAllister, John Norman and Grayson Hughes; her mother, Mildred B. Scott of Winston-Salem; one brother, Ronald Scott and wife Linda of Winston-Salem; several nieces, nephews, and aunt; and her beloved maltipoo, Elvis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth- Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Susan G. Komen Northwest, NC, 1106 Burke St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or a charity of one’s choice.A special thank you the staff of Derick L.
