Janet Brown Calhoun

Kernersville -Janet Brown Calhoun, 79, went home to be with her Lord Saturday, June 20, 2009. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday June 24, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Pete Kunkle officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. Janet was born Nov. 9, 1929 to the late Maude and Edwin Hampton Brown Sr. She loved her family and friends dearly and had a special place in her heart for all the children she provided child care for over the years. She also loved working in her flower gardens. She was predeceased by her husband Joel Calhoun Jr. and brothers Billy, Tom, Virgil, and Edwin Brown Jr. and sisters Mary Marion and Ruby Saunders. Survivors include her special friend for 29 years, Johnny Powell; her son Beverly Calhoun and wife Linda of Greensboro; daughters; Patricia Comer and husband David, Teresa Willard all of Kernersville, Sarah Tuttle and husband Craig of Winston-Salem; grandchildren Brian Calhoun and wife Tami of Oak Ridge, Amy Henson and husband Andy of Sanford, Adam Comer, Lisa Willard of Kernersville, Heather Tuttle, Christopher Tuttle of Winston-Salem; great grandchildren Nathan, Ashley and Kristen Calhoun and Caleb Henson (newborn). She is also survived by brothers; Bobby Brown and wife Claudia (Dude) and Joe Brown and a sister Betty Tesh and husband Ray all of Winston-Salem and many special nieces and nephews.
