Jane Anderson Zimmerman, 89, of Enterprise Road in Arcadia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2023. Friends and family will join for a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member since marriage. (In the event of rain, the service will be moved into the church sanctuary.) Visitation will follow at 3 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Donna Smith and Rev. Sandra Ireson. Mrs. Zimmerman was born October 10, 1933, in Davidson County, to Percy Grimes Anderson and Addie Shore Anderson. On March 24, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Wade Zimmerman. They were married for 53 years until Wade’s passing in 2009. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Cundiff and Mary Anderson; and one brother, Dallas Anderson. She is survived by her children: her son, Jeffrey Wade Zimmerman and his wife, Cindy; and her daughter, Lucinda Jane Zimmerman Black and her husband, Randy, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Danielle Z. Nelms (Jon), Ryan Zimmerman (Chelsea), Cameron Black (Tori), and Lauren B. Burke (Joseph); great-grandchildren, Emma, Brantley, Wade, Carly, Ada and Josie. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Z. Nifong of Winston-Salem; and her brother-in-law, Eddie Zimmerman (Pat) of Bristol, Tennessee; along with a special nephew, David Anderson (Sue) of Lexington. The family loved and adored their sweet “Grandma Jane” and enjoyed her weekly homecooked Sunday lunches. Mrs. Zimmerman graduated from Arcadia High School where she was a member of Future Homemakers of America and captain of the basketball team. After graduation, she began an 18-year career at P H Hanes Knitting Company. Once leaving public work, Jane enjoyed spending time farming with her husband and selling produce at the Winston-Salem Farmers Market as long as their health allowed. Mrs. Zimmerman was actively involved throughout the years with her church, Mt. Olivet UMC, and loyal to her childhood church, Friedberg Moravian. Her civic duties included being a lifelong member for over 50 years with the Arcadia Grange, coordinating many meals for the Crisis Ministry Homeless Shelter, and working at the election polls in Davidson County. The family would like to thank her caregivers: Sydney, Althea, Leslie, Jennifer, Natalie, Sue, Michelle, Julie, and Karen for all the love and care shown to her and her family during Mrs. Zimmerman’s illness along with Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem. They would also like to thank her special friends, Frances Clodfelter and Polly Craver along with many other friends and neighbors who checked in on her. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 1082 Community Road, Lexington, NC 27295; or to the charity of your choice.
