Mrs. Jane Hodgin Long, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1921 in Davenport County, Iowa to Irvin Cheatwood and Mary Vermillion Hodgin. Mrs. Long was a member of Advent Moravian Church. She was retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools as an Administrative Secretary with 27 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Edward Long; and a sister, Tootsie Gorrell. Surviving are two daughters, Karen D. Long and J. Camille Savopoulos and husband David; one son, E. Keith Long and wife Mary; three grandchildren, Andrew Lambeth, Kelly Long, Ben Lambeth and wife Jessica; one great granddaughter, Graelyn Jane Lambeth; and two sisters, Betty Wright and Margery Strayve. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 6 at Advent Moravian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall Friday one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Ministries, 319 Haled St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
