Jane Merritt Lawing

Mrs. Ella Jane Merritt Lawing, 72, passed away Tuesday morning at her residence. She was born on December 30, 1941 in Forsyth County to Banner Edward Merritt and Mildred Calloway Merritt. Mrs. Lawing was a lifelong member of Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and loved her family and her church. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Elizabeth Lawing Davis. Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Charles Raymond Lawing of the home; a daughter, Susan Morgan and husband Cannon of Winston-Salem; a son-in-law, Larry Davis; four grandchildren, Merritt Elizabeth Davis, William ""Will"" Alexander Davis, Katherine Perry Morgan, and William Allen Morgan. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Kerr officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
