Jane Henson

Jane Cottrell Henson, 69, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center, surrounded by family. She was born in Boone, NC on February 6, 1953, to the late Howard and Sarah Palmer Cottrell. Jane was fun-loving and had a great enthusiasm for life. A people person, she liked to encourage and serve those around her. Following retirement from her 30-year career at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., she used her creative interests and talents to bless others, and she particularly enjoyed embroidering t-shirts and making pillowcases for children who were patients at Brenner Children’s Hospital. Surviving is her husband of 48 years, Jack Henson; four brothers, Reid Cottrell (June), Jim Cottrell (Wynne), Jones Cottrell (Tracy) and Bill Cottrell (Debbie); sisters-in-law, Kathryn Greer (Morris) and Judy Hawks (A.D.); also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Triple J Manor House, 362 Interstate Dr., Mocksville, NC 27028. The family would like to thank Dr. Garrett Sherwood, Jon McGuirt, P.A.C., Dr. Jeremy Littleton, and the staff at Forsyth Medical Center for all the care and support given to Jane. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to any other charitable organization combatting childhood cancer.
