Jane Long Gaddy

Jane Long Gaddy of King, N.C., passed away on September 27, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born December 29, 1921, to John David Long and Pearl Sink Long, and grew up in Forsyth County. She played basketball at Griffith High School, and continued her love of the game playing semi-pro ball with a Hanes Hosiery team. Jane taught herself to play the piano, always enjoying both sacred and secular music. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jacob Long and Felix Long, and by two sisters, Mary Motsinger and Zona Nifong. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Gaddy, one brother, John Samuel Long (Johnsie), one sister, Bettie Sue Hicks, one sister-in-law, Mae Long, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service at Hebron United Church of Christ in Davidson County will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Dave Carter officiating.
