Jane Swing Crouse on the morning of Wednesday, August 9, 2017 Crossed Over while in the loving arms of her husband Ray E. Crouse, Jr. Jane and Ray were married September 29, 1990 by Reverend Billy Joe Leonard at Second Reformed United Church of Christ in Lexington, N.C. Jane was born on Valentine's Day 1952 to Jacob Cletus Swing and Ollie Irene Shoaf Swing at City Memorial Hospital in Winston Salem. Jane's angelic sister, Kim Renee preceded both parents on Christmas Eve at the tender age of three when Jane was nine. Jane was baptized on June 21, 1959 along with her sister Kim at Second Evangelical and Reformed Church, now Second Reformed United Church of Christ. Jane loved the UCC denomination; however, she and her husband joined Clemmons Moravian Church on December 21, 2014 out of love for the Moravian traditions displayed by the Crouse family. On Tuesday afternoon, Jane, an avid lover of animals, was visited by a solitary humming bird whose wings opened the Gates so that Jane could rejoin her family. Jane had a vibrant personality and an extremely close and faithful circle of friends developed over her school and work career. Jane was a member of Parkland High School's Class of 1970, where she was a Dixie Deb. Jane graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College in June 1973 after serving as the Class President. Upon graduating, Jane began a very rewarding career with Piedmont Aviation, Inc. ultimately as Executive Secretary to Joseph Healy, Senior Vice President-Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary. After Piedmont's merger with US Airways, Jane opted to remain in Winston Salem to aid her mother and became a Marketing Representative for US Airways Club. Late in 1998 Jane left the corporate world behind to join Hospice and Pallative Care Center first as an Administrative Coordinator at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and later as the Event Coordinator for the Public Relations Department until for reasons of health she left in June 2003. Not quite ready to call it quits, Jane took a position as Assistant to the Chair of Wake Forest's Math Department in September 2004 where she energetically interacted with students and faculty until her health ultimately forced her retirement December 2010. Jane is survived by her husband Ray; very special cousins, Suzanne N. King, Brenda S. Bryant, and Holly S. Shipwash; sister-in-law, Betsy C. Rookard; numerous dear cousins and plentiful friends who are like family. Jane's strength and courage during her long battle with cancer will always be an inspiration to all who knew her.
