Jane Raper Buckner

Mrs. Jane Raper Buckner, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, February 24, 2017.

Jane was born July 10, 1933 in Forsyth County to William Grady and Beulah Raper. She worked for several years as Head Teletype Operator at Western Electric. Later, she spent time as a tour guide at Old Salem. Jane also worked with Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful and was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church. Jane's real passion in life was her family and she will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram ""Butch"" Buckner, granddaughter, Shannon Buckner, and brother, William Raper.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Susan Exline and husband Christopher; sons, Brent Buckner and Tim Buckner and wife Kim; 8 grandchildren, Allen Exline, Laura Exline, William Exline, Perry Exline, Gilbert Gonzalez, Carlie Kowalk, and Franklin Gonzalez; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and twin sister, Jean Beauchamp.

A celebration of Jane's life will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2 pm at Sharon United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Freeman officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 6 - 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
