Ms. Jan Hampton, 54, of Lewisville died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born March 2, 1956 in Winston-Salem to Dr. James Harris Hampton, Jr. and Martha Hutchinson Hampton. Ms. Hampton was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church. She was a founding member and graduate of Forsyth Country Day School. She attended Salem College and graduated from Converse College and The Art Institute of Atlanta. In her youth she was a national champion ball room dancer. She was a former member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem and enjoyed volunteer work for the community through the years. She was an avid painter and gardener, and enjoyed sharing her artwork at local exhibits and growing award winning peonies. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother of Lewisville; one brother, the Rev. Greg Hampton and wife, Maura of Newport News, VA and many other devoted relatives and friends. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM at Lewisville United Methodist Church by Rev. Keith Bingham with Rev. Tom Lee assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
