James Reuben Pell (54) passed away on February 21, 2023. Reuben was born March 31, 1968, in Forsyth County, North Carolina to James Robert Pell and Iris Magilene Pell. Reuben was a Private First Class United States Army veteran. He served 4 years for his country and fought bravely in Desert Storm. He was a lover of bluegrass and country music. Naturally talented, he learned how to play the guitar and banjo by himself. He enjoyed singing and playing many old-time tunes with his mother and daughter. He earned a third-degree black belt in Karate and was inspired by Bruce Lee. He could always be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Tarheels. He had a fondness for Ford Mustangs and scary movies. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be remembered greatly as being easy going, kind-hearted, and having the best sense of humor. Reuben was preceded in death by his father, James Pell, and brother, Kenneth Crotts. He is survived by his mother, Magilene Pell; son James Pell (Kayla), daughter Melanie Roland (Kyle); two adorable grandchildren, Evelyn Pell and Colton Roland; four brothers, Lee Crotts, Terry Crotts, Larry Crotts, Charlie Crotts; dear friend and mother of their children, Samantha, as well as many more loved family and friends.  Visitation for family and friends of Reuben will be held the evening of Friday, February 24th from 6:00-8:00 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25th, at 12:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Winston-Salem with a private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, family request memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
