James "Jimmy" Voncannon

Mr. James William “Jimmy” Voncannon, 76, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021.  He was born July 16, 1945, in Surry County to the late Wayne and Grace Voncannon.  Jimmy was a Barber for the last 50 years and absolutely loved his job.  For 25 years he ran The Reynolds Building Haircutters.  Jimmy was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  He was a very religious man, loving the Lord and loving gospel music, especially Jimmy Fortune.  Jimmy also enjoyed being active.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Ernie Voncannon.  Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Macey Voncannon; son, Chris Voncannon; daughter, Tammie Voncannon; sister, Nancy Faw; two life-long friends, Arnold Inman and Roger Hall; and his K-9 companion, Winnie Rose.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, November 18th at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Bush officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MS Foundation or the Humane Society.
