James "Jim" Hill, Sr.

Mr. James “Jim” Hill Sr. 88, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at his home. He was born in Roanoke County, Virginia on July 23rd, 1933, to the late Hugh Francis Hill and Pearl Elise Kinsey Hill. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Jim retired from truck driving with forty-one years of service. Before retiring, he was a recipient of the 2-million-mile safe driving award. Jim was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church, where he previously served as a Deacon. Jim was a Shriner with Old Town Lodge #751. He also loved deer hunting, fishing, and traveling. Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing in poker games. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be missed dearly by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 66 years whom he loved dearly, Carol Stockton Hill; children, Deborah M. Edwards (Jimmy) of Pinnacle, NC, Lisa C. Tuttle of Meadows, NC, James S. Hill, Jr. of Tyler, TX, and William E. Hill (Carolyn) of King, NC; grandchildren, Kinsey S. Childress (Sommer) of Meadows, NC, Jason M. Hobbs (Haley) of Pilot Mountain, NC, and Annette M. Morgan (Matthew) of Clemmons, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Claire, Hayden, Madison, and Harley. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00PM Friday, March 18, 2022, at Parkway Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Thom Burleson. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM Friday, March 18, 2022, at Parkway Presbyterian Church.
