Mr. James C. “Bud” Dimmette, Jr., 75, of Winston-Salem, entered his heavenly home on Sunday, July 10, 2022, with his wife at his side. He was born in Forsyth County on September 10, 1946, to the late James Claude Dimmette, Sr. and Helen Oldham Dimmette. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his favorite fur baby, Roxi. He is survived by his soulmate of 34 years, Vicki Rice Dimmette; stepson, Anthony King of Winston-Salem; sister, Norma Denny of King, NC; his very best lifelong friend, Ron Hargett of Chesapeake, VA; favorite cousin, Alan Oldham of Winston-Salem; brother-in-law, Lanny Rice of St. Cloud, FL; sister-in-law, Libby Colson of Murfreesboro, TN; and several nieces and nephews. Bud was a member of Union Ridge UMC as a youth. Later, he joined Central Terrace UMC. He graduated from Gray High School and received his BS Degree from High Point University. After working for Mobile Chemical for a time, he decided that being inside formulating and breathing furniture finishes were not for him and that he’d rather be outside. For most of his working career he was a truck driver, primarily for King Sash and Door and lastly for Suiza (Pet) Dairy, covering territories in NC, SC, VA, and WV. It was hard work, but he loved not being stuck in one place and being able to “keep in shape” with the loading and unloading of materials. Bud enjoyed music, watching football and especially Duke men’s basketball. His greatest love of the outdoors was being at the beach. Anyone that knew Bud knew what a wonderful sense of humor he had. He could give a comeback in a second. Bud was a warm, caring, and loving individual. He was a hard worker and loved both God and life and he will be deeply missed! A service to celebrate Bud’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on July 23, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Robert “Bob” Summers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the staff at Trellis Supportive Care for all their wonderful attention and kindness, especially in Bud’s last days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 and/or Central Terrace UMC, 3 E. Devonshire St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
