James Dods 'Jim' Womack, Jr.

Mr. James Dods ""Jim"" Womack, Jr. 89 of Winston-Salem, NC passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013. Jim was born November 25, 1923 in Reidsville, NC to the late James Dods Womack, Sr. and Jessie Prestwood Womack. He was a member of Burkhead United Methodist Church and was retired from the Lexington Telephone Co. after 20 years of service. Jim was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater, was a life member of VFW Post 9010 of Clemmons, NC and was a member of the Tarheel Central Chapter of MOAA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Womack and a sister, Jane Womack King. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Diane Myers Womack of the home, two daughters, Leslie Womack Foxx of Mooresville, NC, Laura Womack Page and husband, Andy of Bostick, NC, two step-daughters; Anna Ingram Howell and husband, Bryan of Advance, NC, Nina Ingram Smith and husband, Ted of Lexington, NC, three grandchildren; Scott Cates, Jessica Foxx, Jason Foxx and three step-grandchildren; Jake Howell, Griff Smith and Claire Smith. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday April 5, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A Memorial Service will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Burkhead United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury Taylor. Burial will follow in the Greenview Cemetery in Reidsville, NC. Memorials may be made to Burkhead United Methodist Church, 5250 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth Co. 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
