James Kenneth Ken" Wilson

KERNERSVILLE-James Kenneth ""Ken"" Wilson, 92, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Lutheran Home of Winston Salem. He was born September 10, 1916 in Iredell Co. to the late James Edward and Ila Welborn Wilson. Ken was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville and the Lee Marshall Sunday school class. He served in WWII as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army. Ken retired from Metal Processors in Kernersville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Sherrill Wilson; two sisters, Evelyn Wilson and Nelda Chamberlain; and one half- brother, Ronnie Kyles. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Annie Brock Wilson of the home; three daughters, Jane Justice of Statesville, Scottie Griffin and husband Ed of Spring City, Tennessee, Susan Sapp and husband Butch of Kernersville; four grandsons, Richard Justice, Scott Justice and wife Jennifer all of Raleigh, David Sapp, Jason Sapp and wife Brandi all of Kernersville; four great-granddaughters, Raychel, Brianna, Olivia, and Taylor Sapp; one great-grandson, Wyatt Sapp; one sister, Eileen Ingram of Statesville; one brother-in-law, JD Chamberlain of Mooresville; and one sister-in-law, Sue Kyles of Mooresville. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum with military graveside rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 9010. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Home-Winston Salem, 5350 Old Walkertown Rd., Winston Salem, NC 27105 or First Baptist Church 401 Oakhurst St. Kernersville, NC 27284. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Lutheran Home for all the love and care that was given to Ken.
