Winston-SalemMr. James Sid Williams, Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013. He was born July 19, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late James Sid Williams, Sr. and Nina Myers Williams. Mr. Williams graduated from High Point College in 1954 with a degree in education. He loved sports, especially basketball. Mr. Williams taught business and coached basketball accumulating over 200 wins as a coach at South Stokes High School before retiring in 1977. Surviving is a sister, Jewell Williams Collier and husband, Jerry; two nieces, Cyd Cowgill and husband, Ben and Stacey Almond and husband, Chris and their children, Caroline and Max; also surviving are three special friends, Jack Hill, Hughes Gentry, and Bill Chambers. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at a later date. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the Williams family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 225 Davie Ave., Statesville, NC 28677-5316.
