Colfax - James Thomas ""J.T."" Westmoreland, 84, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 at his home. He was born July 2, 1928 in Guilford Co. to the late Charlie Thomas and Lillie Smith Westmoreland. J.T. graduated from Colfax High School and continued on to earn a business degree. He worked for JP Stevens as an accountant for 30 years. He loved farming and spending time camping at the beach and mountains. J.T. had a big heart and enjoyed giving generously to charities. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Margaret Westmoreland of the home; his son, James T. ""Tommy"" Westmoreland of Colfax; two daughters, Nancy W. Sipe (Joe) of Colfax, Amy W. Bolden (Roger) of Orange Park, FL; five grandchildren, Timmy Westmoreland, Wendy Baldwin, Michael Sipe, Forest Hill and Robert Bolden; two great-grandchildren, Ozreale and Vanderlei Baldwin; one brother, Reid Westmoreland and wife, Catherine; and a very special aunt, Ruth Williard. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Drew Hellams officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to either, Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 , Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church, 2223 Sandy Ridge Road, High Point, NC 27262 or Autism Society of North Carolina, 9 Oak Branch Ct., Greensboro, NC 27409.
