James Weeks, Sr.

Mr. James Steve Weeks, Sr., 77, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center.  He was born December 26, 1943, in Forsyth County, the son of Arthur James and Lala Atwood Yontz Weeks.  He was retired from Rexam Can Manufacturing after 35 years of service and was of the Christian Faith.  Mr. Weeks enjoyed collecting racing memorabilia and kept samples of the thousands of cans he made over the years.  A self-made man, he is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Jack Yontz, Rudy Yontz, Mary Rose Yontz Cates, Lorene Yontz Myers and Betty Weeks Lane.  Survivors include his wife of 56 years Peggy Southern Weeks and four wonderful children; Annette Perkins (Tim-deceased) of Walkertown, Katherine Robbins (Bobby-deceased) of Winston-Salem, Tammy Dills (Matthew) of Wallburg and Steve Weeks (Erin) of Germanton; his only surviving brother is George Yountz of Winston-Salem.  Steve and Peggy (Paw-Paw and Grammy) have nine loving and supportive grandchildren, twelve amazing great grandchildren and many, many much-loved nieces and nephews who will miss their “Uncle Steve.”  The family thanks Providence Senior Care and Kindred at Home for their support and assistance during Steve’s long and complicated illnesses.  Davidson County Senior services and support from the Wake Forest/Duke University Dementia Studies group guided the family through the maze of issues we faced to be able to provide Steve with proper care at home.  A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday July 31, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor James H.
