James 'Wade' Ward

Mr. James ""Wade"" Ward, 74, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Stokes Co. on February 9, 1939 the son of the late Gideon Chester Ward and Bessie Faye Stoker Ward. Wade was member of Woodland Baptist Church and was a truck driver most of his life, having worked for Allied Systems and then the NC Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2009. He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Wade is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Peggy W. Ward, two godsons, John Wesley Webster (Jeanine) of Rural Hall and Rodney Webster (Sonya) of King, a sister, Bonnie Barnes of Winston-Salem and two special sisters-in-laws, who he thought of as his daughters, Marilyn Baker (Chris) of King and Teena Minter (C.T.) of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by three sisters-in-laws and four brothers-in-laws who he cared for deeply as they did him. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Woodland Baptist Church. Burial will follow Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends this evening June 14, 2013 from 7:00-9:00 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Kate B.
