James Lafayette Walker, 78, passed away at his home on March 24, 2015. Jim was born on June 16, 1936 to Blissie Walker Walker and DeWitte Talmadge Walker in Winston-Salem. He had a career in car sales. Jim was an avid Carolina and Redskins fan. He was a member of Christ Moravian Church where he participated in the Men's Fellowship. He also enjoyed the Coffee Club at Cagney's in Midway. Some of his best times were spent on the water at High Rock Lake; and also in his yard, gardening. He was very proud of his granddaughter, Amanda, who serves in the US Army. And he adored his furry friends, Sam, Beau, Peppi, and Wiggles. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by an infant son, Keith. Survivors include his loving wife of over 30 years, Phyllis Collins Walker; step-son, Randy Floyd; granddaughter, Amanda Arroyo; great grandchildren, Alyssa and Taryn Arroyo; brothers, Eugene, Archie, and Wayne Walker (Martha); as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Christ Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. David Marcus, and Rev. Dr. Neil Routh officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Moravian Church in support of the Ray of Hope Ministry to Kenya, 919 W. Academy St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
