James Thomas

James R. Thomas “POP” passed away on Thursday, October the 20th, 2022. He grew up in Midway, and resided in Old Salem were he held sentimental value from his childhood. He was a hardworking man doing many different jobs throughout the years such as being a bread man for Sunbeam bakery, a police officer and eventually owned newspaper dispensers in High Point. His laugh was contagious, and his life stories were hilarious (even if some were a bit embellished). His ability to fill a room with laughter was unmatched. He had an immense appreciation and love for his family, and spending a lot of time with his nieces, nephews, cousins, children and grandchildren. He loved pie, sometimes eating the whole pie in one sitting. He has been reunited with with his parents John and Edith Thomas. Also his beloved sister Carolyn Taylor. He is survived by his twin brother Johnny (Brenda) his three children Chris, Patrick, and Celeste (Scott) and 8 grandchildren London, Megan, Sadie, Miranda, John, Sarah, Rebekah, and Mary and 3 great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel on November 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Pastor John D. Rights officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek.
