Mr. James ( Jim) Taylor age 86 of Pilot Mtn. NC passed away Friday afternoon October 11, 2013 at the LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville Tenn. Jim was born, September 14, 1927 in Seminole, OK to Ray and Rachel Cobb Taylor. He left home at the age of 16, and went to California. He entered the Merchant Marines at age 17. In 1948, Jim joined the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC. After two years he joined the Air Force. He retired in 1968 specializing as a Dental Lab Technician. Jim was a member of Wilmington Masonic Lodge and a member of the South Westfield Ruritan Club. Jim married Evalina Cook Taylor in 1997 and moved to Pilot Mountain, where he gained a family. Nothing pleased Jim more than to buy things for his wife and for the family to get together for a meal, especially July 4, at Holden Beach. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clovis Taylor, and his first wife, Liz Taylor Jim is survived by his wife, Evalina Cook Taylor of 16 years. Three step children; Debbie and Rev. Doug Brinkley, Robin and Phil Pickard, and Robbie Cook, one brother; J.C. Taylor of California, five step grandchildren, Ellen Brinkley White, Joel Brinkley, Eve Smith, Zane Smith, and Samantha Cook, step great grandchildren, Lilly, Corrina, Aurelia, and Aurora. A Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday, October 15, 2013 11:00 AM at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Brinkley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and at all other time at the Taylor home on Jessup Grove Church Rd. Pilot Mtn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
