Mr. James Thomas Stanley, 81, of Winston-Salem, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 7, 1929 in Forsyth County to the late Lee Roy and Gladys Petree Stanley. Mr. Stanley was a member of Memorial Reformed Church where he was a member of the Consistory. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954, and served on the USS Yorktown and USS Valley Forge. He was retired from Hickory Tree Furniture. Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Dorothy ""Dot"" Stanley; one daughter, Pam Swaim and husband Danny of Wallburg; one son, James Michael Stanley of Winter Park, FL; a daughter-in-law, Linda Stanley of Wallburg; three grandchildren, Pam Carter, Angela Shepherd and husband Carl, and Danny Joe Swaim; ten great grandchildren; and a brother, Lee Roy Stanley, Jr. of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held 3:00PM Thursday, March 7, 2011 at Oaklawn memorial gardens with Rev. Norwood Green and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Reformed Church, 236 W. Banner Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
