James Clyde Sloan

Mr. James Clyde Sloan 80, of Mocksville, passed away Wednesday May 11, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on February 25, 1936 to Lester Hubert and Mary Agnes Friesland Sloan. Mr. Sloan was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Rexam Corporation after 25 years of service. He enjoyed golf, fishing, going to the YMCA, and was a little league baseball coach. He loved playing baseball when he was younger. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 60 years Shelby Shadrick Sloan, his children Timothy Dale (Cecila) Sloan, Rebecca Sloan (Doug) Carter, and Joseph L. (Amanda) Sloan, six grandchildren Timothy Sloan, Jr, Amanda Sloan Powers, Ryan and Haley Carter, and Levi and Wyatt Sloan, two great-grandchildren Ella and Jonah Sloan, two brothers Ray and Jack Sloan, and two sisters Sarah S. Doby and Mary Ann Watkins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tim Sloan, Jr and Pastor Gary Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, May 13, 2016 from 7:00 -9:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
