Kernersville- Mr. James Joseph Shipe, Sr., 71, after a courageous battle with cancer went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, July 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 18, 1953, in Allegheny Co. PA to the late Robert Shipe and Elizabeth George Peseux. James was a loving husband, devoted father, and caring Pawpaw. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and an outdoorsman who loved fishing, golfing, football, and throwing darts. James enjoyed family events, trips to the beach and he loved quiet evenings with his wife. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James “Jamie” Joseph Shipe, Jr. and his two brothers, Donald and Bill Shipe.
Left to cherish his memory are; his wife Glenda of 35 years, his son Dylan Shipe (Katelyn), one daughter, Alyssa Shipe, six grandchildren, Levi Marshall, Kallista Brown, Carsyn Shipe, Lucas Shipe, Kabri Eastwood, and Khloe Eastwood, one brother, Joseph Peseux (Monica) one sister, Margaret Evans, many special nieces and nephews, two bonus daughters, Heather Skeen, and Krista McCraw and a best friend, Johnny Wilborne.
A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with officiant Michael Isaacson. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 12:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to The Sandlot at www.1project.org or to Trellis Supportive Care at 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103.
