James Robert 'Jim' Sanders

Mr. James Robert ""Jim"" Sanders transitioned to his heavenly home Monday, August 5, 2013 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Jim had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; therefore, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. Jesus is our Hope! Jim was born April 14, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late Robert S. Sanders and Gladys Meadows Sanders. He graduated from James A. Gray High School in 1949. On July 20, 1950, Jim married Coleen Culler after Sunday service at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Jim and Coleen were married 63 years on July 23, 2013. In 1950 Jim, his father and sister, Betty Coalson, established Sanders Furniture Company, Inc. on South Main Street. Several years later, the business was moved to Patterson Avenue. Jim and his wife, Coleen, owned and operated Oldtown Camper Sales, Inc., along with their daughter, Gigi, from 1969 until 2008. Jim was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church for 40 years and served as assistant treasurer and as a deacon. In 1990, Jim and Coleen moved their membership to Old Town Baptist Church. They immediately joined the Willing Workers Sunday School class. The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all the prayers, thoughts and love shown to Jim during his illness. Dear class, you are truly an example of the church in action loving as Jesus taught His church to love. Thank you! Jim is survived by his wife of the home, Coleen, two daughters, Melinda Sanders Lawson and husband, Jerry Lawson and Regina (Gigi) Hogan; two grandsons, Luke Lawson and Cory Hogan, and sister, Betty Coalson. The family will welcome friends Wednesday, August 7, from 6pm to 8pm at Old Town Baptist Church, Shattalon Drive. A celebration service will be held 11am, Thursday, August 8, at Old Town Baptist Church, with Dr. Rick Speas officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Acts 1:8 Missions Fund at Old Town Baptist Church. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway is serving the Sanders family.
