James Harold Salmons, Sr.

Mr. James Harold Salmons, Sr. died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 19, 1934 in Yadkin County to George Franklin and Pearl Williams Salmons; however the family moved to Winston-Salem when he was very young. Mr. Salmons graduated from Gray High School and was retired from AT&T/Lucent Technology. He was a member of Clemmons Moravian Church, Clemmons Sunday School Class and also, a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He had many varied interests until his health declined that included golf, skeet shooting, travel and especially the past several years at the coast fishing, reading and enjoying the ocean breeze. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Nonnie S. Groce and Leatha S. Howard; and a brother, Rev. Jack L. Salmons. He is survived by his wife, Shirley C. Salmons and a son, James H. Salmons, Jr.; three sisters, Kathleen S. Patterson, Mildred S. Sunderlin-Gorham and Carrol S. Knight; nephews, Al Patterson, Ronnie Patterson and Andrew Salmons; nieces, Beverly Gwynn, Janet Styers, Donna Gouge, Rebecca Dyer and Emilie Salmons and several great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Clemmons Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Ray Burke officiating.
