James Cole Rigsbee

Kernersville - Mr. James Cole Rigsbee passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center. He was born March 17, 1936 to the late Julia Hackney and Coley Leonard Rigsbee Sr. James loved to play golf, travel, and spend time with his family. He served the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne. James gave countless hours of service to his community through coaching little league, delivering meals on wheels, and was a lifetime member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Peggy, sister; Bobbie Jean, and brothers, Leonard and Donald.
Surviving are four children, Kim Boone, Kelly Martin and wife Melissa, James ""Jim"" Rigsbee, Jr. and wife Beth, Jonathan Rigsbee and wife Cathy, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, a sister; Peggy Harris of Durham, three brothers, Bill Rigsbee of Chapel Hill, Wayne Rigsbee of Louisburg, NC, Richard Riggsbee of Myrtle Beach.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:30 PM prior to the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow in Bunker Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center at 101 Hospice Lane Winston Salem, NC 27103 or to the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church Playground Fund at 1510 Bunker Hill Sandy Ridge Rd. Kernersville, NC 27284.
