Mr. James “Ray” Freeman, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 6, 2022.  Ray was born in Surry County on April 9, 1930.  Ray served his country in the United States Navy and spent a career in sales of steel and tobacco.  Ray was a man of deep faith and a longtime member of Ardmore Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for numerous years.  He and his late wife, Vicki, could be seen every Sunday on the front pew welcoming new members to their beloved church family.  Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Freeman on December 3, 2020, and looked forward to the day he could join her again in the presence of his Lord and Savior.  A service to celebrate Ray and Vicki’s lives will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Tyler Tankersley and Dr. Gina M. Brock officiating.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Freeman.
