Mr. James ""Slim"" Herman Pilcher, 92, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home. Mr. Pilcher was born in Yadkin County on August 21, 1923 to A.A. and Betty Foster Pilcher. Mr. Pilcher worked two jobs his entire life, retiring from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 37 years of service and also from Spencer Dalton Oil Company with 30 years of service. He loved to antique in his free time and owned Frieda's Antiques. Mr. Pilcher was very handy, working on lawn mowers for all of his neighbors. He enjoyed going to auctions, watching baseball, and NASCAR, which he has fond memories of attending the first Daytona 500. He will always be remembered for his loving nature in which he loved to pick and tease everyone. Mr. Pilcher was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Frieda Pilcher; a daughter, Sandra Hailey and husband James; two grandchildren, Cindy Pierce and Lisa Laws and husband Bill; a great grandson, James Laws; two sisters, Ruth Spaugh and husband, Dean, and Ferald Gray Nelson and husband Bobby; a niece, Marcia Hill; and four nephews, Randy Nelson, Danny Spaugh, Gerald Spaugh, and Max Spaugh. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor John Smith officiating.
